Getting to know Kate a little more...

1. What is Mayde Tea?

Mayde Tea is an organic herbal tea company, created from a naturopathic and herbalist background. All teas are hand crafted for specific body systems and are aimed at creating vitality in the individual using only natures resources.

2. What inspired you to create this product?

My massive obsession with herbal tea! The benefits are honestly endless, from improving digestion and taming sugar cravings, to reducing anxiety. The amazing taste is just a bonus to me now after my research of the amazing scientifically proven health benefits.

3. What advice would you give to girls about living a healthy lifestyle?

I think the main advice would be to love your body. Treat it well and it will treat you well back! Fuel it with nutrient dense foods, and nourish your soul with relaxation, exercise you really enjoy and surround yourself with those who inspire you and help you grow.

4. What is your favourite tea blend?

Mine is probably my Serenity blend. It is one of the first teas created one night when I couldn't sleep. All of the ingredients have been proven to calm the nervous system, and promote a calm mind, helping you to have a restful sleep.

5. Where do you find inspiration?

I'm very inspired by my mum. She lives and breathes health! I also have a few friends who are amazing naturopaths who I am inspired by every day. A lot of my inspiration comes from how powerful and beneficial these herbs actually are and the feedback I get back from my customers on their experiences from drinking my tea. That inspires me so much!

6. What sparked your interest in natural therapies?

I think the healing power of nature is very underestimated. I fell quite sick a few years ago and I was healed with diet and herbal medicine alone. I wanted to educate people about alternative therapies because I became to passionate about it.

7. What do you do in your spare time?

Doing loads of yoga, creating recipes or in the ocean. I don't have much spare time but I make good use of it when it is there!

8. What’s your favourite go to recipe?

I love making big green smoothie bowls packed with antioxidants and minerals, plus fiber and plant protein. Blending loads of greens increases the bioavailability of the nutrients (they reach your cells quicker and more efficiently) Or, if I have a sweet tooth I throw some nuts, organic carob powder, coconut oil and raw honey in the blender. Then I freeze it and its always bound to be delicious!

9. What do you benefit from drinking tea?

Herbal tea is by far one of the most affordable, effective and beautiful ways to embrace the healing benefits of medicinal plants. Many years of research has proven the glory of herbs.. after all herbal medicine has been used for many years- even more than medicine. I could go on forever about the benefits, so i'll stick with one herb: An example is licorice root tea. Licorice root is one of my favorite herbs. It is anti-inflammatory, soothes mucous membranes and tastes absolutely delicious. Licorice has been found to balance blood sugar levels and counteract the cravings for sweets. So using this, i made my 'sweet treat' blend, encompassing these facts.

10. What’s your favourite flower?

I have so many! At the moment though my favourite is the pretty chrysanthemum. My friend was getting really bad sty's and I prescribed him a decoction with chrysanthemum. He used it to bathe his eye and it drew out the infection and it healed in what seemed like record time! So that was exciting. Another favourite is a sunflower, just because it stands so bright, tall, and cheerful!
